From collecting all of this data I came to the conclusion that the average college student spends more time sleeping, and hanging out with friends than they do studying. Comparing the males to the females, the males spend a lot more time working out and playing video games and the girls spend more times with their friends. Keep in mind thought that most of the people I questioned were freshman, freshman don’t really know the ropes of how college works; so for now, they may spend more time hanging out with friends and sleeping but in a month or two we may notice that they are spending more time on their studies and less on friends and sleep.
When people are away from home they like to have things around them that remind them of friends and family and things they love. In the pictures above you can see that this girl has a picture of ballet shoes which symbolize the girls love that she had back home. She was a dancer and misses it dearly, she hung this picture up to remind her of the passion and love she had for dance. The second picture posted is a picture a many pictures hung up in this girls room. This girl has many pictures hung up to remind her of the friends and family that she has recently separated from. This probably brings a sense of relaxation and home to her knowing that when she looks at that wall everything that she has left behind is actually right next to her. The third picture I posted is a picture of a fall decoration, this is to welcome the season in and also be very festive. All of these decorations are things to make the place in which we are staying now feel a little more like home and to help the adjustment into college a little bit easier.
